Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

If your little one is tense or seems irritable they may benefit from a CFT session. The majority of babies I see for CFT have been born fast or with the help of forceps for example. Typical problems parent contact me about are:

  • Side turning preference

  • One side feeding preference

  • Unhappiness in car seats or in tummy time

  • Uneven leg creases

  • Flattening of the cranial bones

  • Difficulty pooping

  • Hernias

I am trained to work with older children and adults too so booking an appointment is appropriate for anyone who feels they might benefit.

For more information please have a look around The Gillespie Approach website, the home of CFT https://www.gillespieapproach.com/
I am insured to carry out this work by Balens.

I trained in 2015 – 2016 and have seen hundreds of babies since that time.

Usually, the sessions leave them very relaxed and I have even known parents fall asleep watching the work unfold.
The therapy is a very light touch and baby-led and has roots in the USA. It focuses on reducing fascial tension in the body and I often say to parents my only objective is for a baby to not feel so tight after a session.
During the first session, history will be taken and the little one assessed for and resolution of some tension where possible using the gentle techniques. Further sessions may be recommended (usually up to three). I always send parents home with homework to do as I truly believe you have the skills to help your own little one. If you are breastfeeding I highly recommend a full lactation consultation which will incorporate some CFT as some symptoms are feeding related.
